Notes
The seven (7) highlighted valves are the most critical ones to know about because they can save a lot of damage if a pipe breaks by simply shutting them off. Please take the time to locate these valves.
The first three valves are used in a situation where water is leaking into the parking garage or from the unit above yours and the tenants are not home. Call Diversified at (403) 230-7376 for emergency service and while waiting for the plumber shutting these valves off can save a lot of property damage.
The location of the zone valve is important because they sometimes break. This problem can be mitigated by operating the thermostat to cycle the zone valve for a minute each month during the summer to keep it working correctly.
It is also important to avoid leaving windows open during freezing weather as this can cause pipes to freeze and burst.
A common pipe that leaks is the hose, both hot and cold, to the washing machine. These can break at any time so if at all possible the valves to the washing machine should be shut off after each use. Stronger wire braided hoses should be used for your washing machine.
